On May 16, Moraine Park Technical College nursing students assisted St. Agnes Hospital with their tornado evacuation drill. The 14 first- year nursing students helped by acting as patients for the staff to evacuate from various inpatient units across the hospital. Through this experience, the students were able to represent Moraine Park in the community and provide feedback during a debriefing reviewing the policies and procedures for hospital evacuation situations. They will also be able to apply the knowledge they gained to their third-semester mental health course when they further discuss emergency situations!

and other health care providers in the clinic setting. They are able to support
both the administrative and clinical aspects of the health care facility.

get to perform hands on skills such as obtaining vital signs, assisting with
procedures, drawing blood, giving injections, performing EKGs, and running
various laboratory tests performed in the physician’s office.
At the West Bend Campus we are proud to offer a cohort model

To say that Rosy Samou, of Ripon, has had a winding journey to get to Moraine Park Technical College would be an understatement.
Rosy is a native of Cameroon, Africa, and in the last five years has moved internationally twice, traveled nearly 10,000 miles, learned English, gave birth to her third child, earned her CNA, enrolled in the nursing program, and is now petitioning to be a Registered Nurse (RN).
“My name is Juli. I live in Waupun with my husband in a house that we bought last year. We absolutely love being homeowners. In our free time we like to make improvements on the house and when the weather is nice we like to go on Harley rides. I don’t have my own, but I keep telling myself that someday I will.
Do you remember Hannah Koepp? She was featured in a foundation appeal video in 2016, as a scholarship recipient. You can view the video here.
Hannah’s family had been through some tough times after her mother was diagnosed with cancer, but she had big dreams for herself. The Moraine Park Foundation was able to help Hannah with a scholarship to help her start her schooling. At the time, Hannah was taking her general education courses with hopes of being accepted into the radiologic technologist program.
So, where is she today?
I caught up with the very excited, soon-to-be graduate at the Moraine Park Fond du Lac campus. After she passes her boards this July, she will officially be a radiologic technologist RT(r). She is eager to begin working in the field, to gain some more hands-on experience. She will be able to apply for jobs after graduation.
On May 19, Hannah will walk the Moraine Park stage and accept her diploma. But, she isn’t the only one in her family that is graduating.
“My sister Maddie is graduating from high school and my sister Zoe from middle school,” Koepp said. “It’s a milestone year for all of us.”
There is sure to be a fun Koepp family celebration this summer!
Hannah benefited from two scholarships through the Moraine Park Foundation. These scholarships are available thanks to contributions from generous community donors. And, students like Hannah are exactly who donors want to help, you will find her name on the most recent Dean’s list!
“I am so thankful,” said Koepp. “The scholarship money helped so much and allowed me to focus on my schooling.”
Congratulations Hannah on your upcoming graduation, we wish you success in your career!

Want to change careers? Need direction in life? So did Gena Winter.
“I hit a point in my life where I wanted a career change. I was focused on finding a job that would best suit my family time and yet something that I would really enjoy doing on a daily basis. I didn’t know where to turn so I made an appointment with an MPTC counselor. After reviewing my interest, she pointed me to the Medical Assistant program where I fell in love with it. With my kids being active in school and sports, I was able to take most of my classes at night or online at MPTC. The training and education itself was a short period of time.” Continue reading
