Every year since 2010, March 31st has been celebrated as the International Transgender Day of Visibility. This designation is to support trans communities throughout the world, to bring attention to the accomplishments of trans people, and to fight cissexism and transphobia by spreading knowledge. Graphic Communications students at Moraine Park Technical College learn to effectively use images and color together, as well as the importance of considering culture as it influences a design. One example out of the many great historic examples of the emotional power of color, and how that color is linked to a cultural symbol, is the story of why we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the color green and shamrock. The Hartford Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Supper Club celebration event was held at the legendary Chandelier Ballroom on Thursday, March 2.
The event provided an evening of fabulous networking, a silent auction and a marvelous buffet dinner prepared by Michelle Price, Executive Director of the Chandelier Ballroom and former Moraine Park community education hospitality and foods adjunct faculty. Continue reading

Moraine Park recently took part in the Wisconsin Technical College System’s (WTCS) Student Showcase at the State Capitol, and a neat project done by my graphic communication students was featured at the event.
