“A very solid foundation” – Connecting students with employment

Moraine Park Technical College provides not only a quality education in your field of choice, but opportunities to directly reach out to potential employers. One recent example is Portfolio Showcase, where graduating students from Moraine Park Technical College’s programs showcased projects and work with prospective employers, the local community and Moraine Park students and staff.

Featured were students in Moraine Park’s Graphic Communications, Interactive Media Design and Digital Marketing programs.

One great example of the true impact of a night like this is alumnus Brandon Coster. He graduated from Moraine Park in 2013, with a main focus in our Web Design and Development Program. Continue reading

Pinning! Congratulations, nursing graduate Class of 2016!

Moraine Park pinning of Nursing graduates

On Friday, May 20, 2016, nursing graduates of Class 2016 held an age-old tradition: a “Pinning Ceremony,” where nurses and nursing faculty welcome new graduates into the profession.

This tradition dates back to the time of the Maltese Cross, when Crusaders wore the cross as a symbol of service to Christianity. With influence from Florence Nightengale, the school at St. Thomas’s Hospital in London awarded a Maltese Cross to nurses as they completed their nursing program. Continue reading

They turned a pile of junk into what???

Male Welding student welding steel at Junkyard Challenge

Slowly, serenely and quietly. The hour hand spun  around the clock three times. Meanwhile, with frantic precision and loud jolts of noise, the hands of creative high school students transformed piles of scrap metal into works of art at Moraine Park Technical College’s 13th annual Junkyard Challenge on May 12.

Sixteen students from Fond du Lac, Lomira, Mayville and Slinger high schools came to the College’s Fond du Lac campus for the event, where they had just three hours to turn random scraps of metal and structural material into elaborate welded creations – and did they ever. Continue reading

Is your water safe?

Moraine Park Wastewater instructor sitting at blue picnic table and dripping faucet

Hi, I’m Mark Schmidt, water quality instructor here at Moraine Park Technical College. Today marks the first day of a blog regarding water quality.

I have been asked by many people about the safety of consuming water, whether bottled or municipally supplied. Some questions have also come from people that have private wells. The questions certainly make me think as there seems to be some pretty interesting misinformation available. Continue reading
