On Friday, December 16th, the Nursing Program faculty and staff celebrated the end of the semester with a festive ugly sweater contest, lunch, and Secret Santa exchange on the Fond du Lac campus – and we wishing everyone a happy festive holiday season!
An important part of becoming a nurse is learning how a nurse cares for individual patients. Nursing students will also need to learn how to care for their communities they live and work in.
Third semester nursing students get that opportunity during their Mental Health and Community Concepts course. One of the assignments the nursing students complete is titled “Advocating for Your Community.” The students choose a community topic in their city or county and then develop a plan to help the community they choose. The West Bend Student Nurses Association (SNA) group collected over $350 worth of toys/cash donations to help make Christmas a little brighter for area kids that belong to the Boys and Girls Club.
The group was involved in a competition with other clubs to donate the largest amount of toys. Continue reading

Perhaps the biggest factor in this success is our faculty, which has real-world experience and extensive training in their respective programs of study. They don’t just teach subjects. They “get it.” They’ve been there – and are trying to get you there, too!
Perhaps no one at Moraine Park exemplifies that as much as Mary Bandler, our Respiratory Therapist program director and instructor. She has spent nearly 40 years in the respiratory therapy field and is driven to pass along her knowledge to others.
