Opportunity is knocking: ‘Test Drive’ CNC & Welding careers

Employers at Test Drive Event

Reasons to come to Test Drive:

  1. I don’t know anything about being a CNC machinist.
  2. I am a trained welder.
  3. I’ve welded some pieces together before, but I don’t have formal training.
  4. I don’t think I have a interest in manufacturing careers.
  5. I’ve never worked in manufacturing and want to get a taste for it.
  6. I don’t know what I want to do next.
  7. I have no plans on Wednesday, and I would just like to make something in the workshops.
  8. I want to meet the employers that are part of the boot camps.
  9. I think the boot camps might be for me.

Offender recidivism: Do you believe in second chances?

Do you know what percentage of offenders will be released from prison and return to the community in which they live?

According to the Bureau of Justice, 95% of offenders will be released from prison and return to their community.

Students enrolled in Moraine Park Technical College’s Corrections Science program, engage in numerous hands-on activities in Probation and Parole class, and recently our students were able to sit down and interview offenders from Burke Correctional. Continue reading

Area businesses discuss employee engagement

Moraine Park EWD area business employment engagement conference

Moraine Park welcomed area business leaders on Nov. 11 to a complimentary forum to discuss how employee engagement can impact their business.  Over 50 participants, representing 23 companies, had an opportunity to hear from three panel presenters as they shared their journey and philosophy on employee engagement.  In addition to the Q & A, attendees had an opportunity to network as they discussed best practice techniques, challenges and action steps they can apply at their respective organizations. If so, let us know! Moraine Park Technical College is now accepting nominations for its 2017 Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Nominees must hold a one- or two-year technical diploma, an associate degree or an associate of applied science degree from a Moraine Park program. Additional criteria includes demonstrated service and/or support of Moraine Park, the Wisconsin Technical College System and the community at large, as well as distinguishing oneself through a career or civic activity.
