Peanut butter cost how much when they graduated?!

Vintage black and white photo of nursing students

With election season in full swing, this week’s “Throwback” goes back to the year the voting age in the United States was officially lowered to 18 years old.

The year was 1971, and here’s a look at Nursing Assistant students who graduated from Moraine Park Technical College that year.

Wonder what else their world was like back then?   Continue reading

Twice is nice for Prunty!

Race car driver Alex Prunty and little boy by race car

A bit of kudos is in order – and, heck, we’re gonna do a little bragging, to be perfectly honest!

Alex Prunty continues to have an awesome year on the racetrack.

Alex is a Moraine Park Technical College Alumni and owner/driver of the #11 Super Late Model we sponsor. He’s the current 2016 Kulwicki Driver Development Program (KDDP) national points leader, but had experienced plenty of near misses this season.

Finishing second four times recently – including seeing a couple of wins slip away in the closing laps – he’s been hungry for wins. And he got a double-dose of that this month. Continue reading

CHAMPION: Meet our first-ever SkillsUSA national champ

Male Moraine Park electrical student standing near rolls of wire

Moraine Park Technical College graduate Devin Kissinger has always possessed a tremendous gift for assembling things with precision and skill.

Putting together circuit boards, building decks, finishing basements, siding houses, doing complicated wiring and working on motors. Easy, or at least doable in time.

Putting together words to describe the feeling winning a national championship? Well, that’s a bit more daunting. Continue reading

Devin Kissinger = National Champion

Moraine Park Electrical student Devin Kissinger - Nation Champion

In April, we had several students compete at the State level Skills USA Competition.  During the State Skills Competition, Devin Kissinger competed in the Industrial Motor Control Competition and placed 1st while Norberto Almaraz competed in the Residential Wiring Competition and placed 2nd. Both were offered spots to compete at the National Skills USA Competition to be held at the end of June in Louisville, Kentucky. Continue reading

Alex Prunty is leading the pack!

Alex is a Moraine Park Technical College Alumni and owner/driver of the #11 Super Late Model we sponsor, and is an early leader in the 2016 Kulwicki Driver Development Program’s “Kulwicki Cup” point standings! Great job, Alex!

In the organization’s initial evaluation, which considered the seven drivers’ on and off-track performances from April 1 through June 30, Wisconsin’s Alex Prunty holds a 12-point lead over Maine’s Dave Farrington Jr.  California driver Jeremy Doss is in third and closing the gap. Continue reading

Hired Before Graduation: “Fear is your biggest obstacle.”

Moraine Park female student hired before graduation

If you’ve been thinking about going back to school, but have been making a mental list of obstacles in your way, recent Moraine Park Technical College graduate Marcia Card has some advice:

“Just do it. Don’t worry about how you’re going to pay for it or how you’re going to juggle everything. Fear is your biggest obstacle and it is the only thing that is holding you back. Just take one day at a time and do what needs to be done.”

That’s the approach Marcia took, and it not only led to an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Chiropractic Specialist, it landed her a job in her field before she ever graduated.  Continue reading

Alex Prunty race car driver wins heat at Slinger Speedway

My name is Alex Prunty, Moraine Park Technical College Alumni, and owner/ driver of the #11 Super Late Model, sponsored by Moraine Park Technical College.

I’ve won the 2015 Slinger Speedway Late Model Track Championship and 2015 Dells Raceway Park Super Late Model Rookie of the Year award and Dash Series Championship and I’m hoping for many more successful achievements in the future.

But, before looking ahead, I’d like to give you some insight into who I am, and what has led me to this point: Continue reading

The sky is not the limit …

Female Moraine Park student adjusting motorboard on fellow classmate at graduation

The scene told many stories as roughly 350 Moraine Park Technical College students walked up to the commencement stage on Saturday, May 21, soaked in the moment, and one-by-one wrapped their hands around a diploma – their diploma.

Relief. Pride. Validation. Fulfillment. Gratitude. Pure, unbridled joy.  These emotions and more were readily on display at Moraine Park’s 2016 Commencement Ceremony in the Fond du Lac High School Field House. But amidst an eclectic mix of smiles and tears – whether seen on the faces of those on stage or from proud family members watching on – there was one unifying truth to connect all these journeys. VIDEO: Behind the ‘Bright Lights’ of Gourmet Dinner

The Moraine Park Foundation rolled out the red carpet for this year’s Gourmet Dinner last Friday (April 29) at our Fond du Lac campus. The theme “Bright Lights, Hollywood Nights” combined the nostalgia of 1950s fare with the ambiance of old Hollywood. Guests of the event, presented by the Moraine Park Culinary Arts program, enjoyed a six-course meal consisting of popular continental menu items from the ’50s with a little twist.

Here’s a fun, behind-the-scenes look into the kitchen that night. Remember, it’s all in the hi…. wrists …

Our annual gourmet dinner benefits the Moraine Park Foundation’s general scholarship fund and the student emergency fund. To find out more about the Moraine Park Foundation’s mission, click here.
