Homeschool kids playing

Moraine Park Technical College is a homeschool friendly school and we want to show homeschoolers just how much we want to partner with you.

We are being purposeful in reaching out to homeschoolers in the Moraine Park district to provide you with higher education opportunities so that your children are well prepared to become future leaders in their fields. But don’t forget higher education is not just for our children. There are great opportunities for everyone in the family to take classes and earn degrees. Continue reading

Congrats to everyone on our Spring 2017 Dean’s List!

Students taking selfie

Next time you see a Matthew or Sara in our hallways, just know that you’re likely standing in the company of a pretty intelligent, hard-working individual.

In the hundreds of names that appeared in our Moraine Park’s 2017 Spring Dean’s List, those were the two first names that appeared the most. (There were 11 Matthews, if you must know, and 9 Sara/Sarahs). Continue reading

Donut Club sprinkles good deeds throughout community

Students in Donut Club pose gather for group photo

The Moraine Park Technical College Donut Club was started in the Fall 2016 semester after a presentation from Lisa Manuell, who is one of our College’s awesome student life specialists.  Lisa told our Composition 1 class that students could start just about any club on campus as long as they met certain criteria.

She told us she had even heard of a school in Minnesota that had a Donut Club!  And just like that, the Moraine Park Donut Club was born! Continue reading

Moraine Park’s Homeschool Partnership

Female student studies at table in Moraine Park library

Synonyms for partnership include: cooperation, assistance, interest, sharing, community and ownership. At Moraine Park Technical College, we embrace all of these characteristics of partnership with our students. And homeschooled students are no exception and benefit tremendously from partnering with the college.

Our relationship starts before high school, as young students participate in events at Moraine Park designed to educate them and give them hands on opportunities to try out various careers for their future. I am confident that these experiences will lead to more research and learning after the event by the student and family. Continue reading

Meet Christine: Our 2017-18 District Student Ambassador!

Moraine Park female District Student Ambassador Christine

Christine Gil is our Moraine Park’s 2017-18 District Student Ambassador!

The role of the Ambassador is to actively serve as a member of student government, advocate for Moraine Park and the Wisconsin Technical College System as a whole, assist with College activities and events and represent the student body within the community.

All that said, you may have two burning questions remaining: The first being “What is the meaning of life?” And the second being “Who exactly is Christine Gil and why is she a perfect fit for Student Ambassador?”

Both good questions, for sure. We’ll work on the first one and get back to you. In the meantime, here are answers to the second quandary, in Christine’s own words: Continue reading

Beaver Dam Student Senate ends year making a difference

Even amidst year-end projects, assignments and final exams, students found time to volunteer for three community service projects.

Over the course of three days, more than 35 students participated in Student Senate’s sponsored Habitat for Humanity build days. On May 2, members of the Electrical Power Distribution Club worked on silt fencing and stone veneering for an almost-finished house in Juneau. On May 10, different members of the same club painted a shed and backyard fences for a home in Beaver Dam.  And the day before, May 9, members from the Student Nurses Association, Donut Club, Beaver Dam Student Senate, and Welding club painted fences for a home in Beaver Dam.
